Skirtboarders
Release Date: 2007/07/30
A sunset, a few scrapes and scratches, faces with exhausted smiles, the sound of urethane wheels against the concrete and the rumble of the city in the background...Such moments, as simple as they are hard to describe, make us appreciate each day that lets us gather to tear down the streets together. These girls are my muses, each in their own way; with their style, age and personality. It is that individuality that makes the diversity of Skirtboarders and it is this diversity that inspires me. I can only hope that it will inspire you as much or, at least, make you smile the time of an Ollie... In a city where snow and scorching heat succeed to one another, where two languages are constantly debating about their respective places, talents of all sorts are constantly springing up. It is with the intention of leaving a trace of our existence by sharing a few home-grown songs and images that this film sees the day. It would be a shame to let this talent die or fall into oblivion. You can\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t, however, accuse the Skirtboarders of false representation! In the male-ridden universe of skateboarding, they thumb their nose at convention. Originating from all four corners of the country, an incredible chain of circumstances brought them together in the summer of 2002 to tear down the streets of Montreal, gather around a good meal and share a couple of beers. Embracing culture as a whole, several young recruits have since joined their ranks in this troupe that is ever expanding. Without pretension, false glamour or skirts, they are the Skirtboarders: twenty girls on their boards, one camera, one city, and a lot of passion. With: Anne-Sohie Julien, Annie Guglia, Chloe Morin, Eloise Theoret, Erika Dube, Julie Levesque, Margaux Walker and many more.
