PINK

There's something I've always liked about watching local videos. Maybe it's seeing the riders and spot that you've become familiar with over the years. It's easier to picture yourself being there as opposed to some remote location with the top riders in the industry. It just seems more real. Pink, the fourth film from Muskoka Militia, is directed by Dan Hughes of RedButton. The film features top riders Chris Guard, Ryan Doyle, Kyle Rattray and Jesse Page, plus countless locals. The opening segment asks the questions, "Why wakeboard?" Scott Duke relpies, "We're freaking Canadians. We live in Ontario. What else do you do? there's no surf... this is what we do. We Wakeboard." Living in Ontario, where certain summer activities are limited these riders push wakeboarding foward. Whether it's waking up at 7 a.m. daily, riding in the rain and lightning, or braving water on a cold october day to get final shots, these riders are dedicated. Pink contains footage from Vernon, BC, Naples, Florida, and Harlos' backyard rail setup. The film offers an inside look at the Base Camp in Muskoka, and features clips of the Oakley Luanch Pool from Wakestock 2006. Bonus fotty includes highlights from the first stop of the 2006 X-Cup in Westmeath, ON. Even the soundtrack promotes Canadian content. From choclair to Classified, Alexisonfire, to Feist, the music varies like the riding styles. Although Pink runs just over 30 minutes long, with so many talented riders, it's worth watching. The film is currently available so go get your copy.
