A BROKEDOWN MELODY

Beautiful cinematography. A Broke Down Melody is a beautiful film that is very artistic in its way of filming, experimenting with colors and visually one of the best surfing DVD's out there. A Broke Down Melody features different surfing segments with Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Rob Machado, Jack Johnson and much more. There are some really cool surfing footage especially with Kelly Slater. But this video doesn't just cover the awesome surfing of the professionals but also surfers from other countries and how they enjoy soulsurfing. From Jamaican surfers who go out to compete in a tournament, kids who come from third world countries who use the broken boards of surfers to surf the waves and how surfers have inspired people from other countries to give surfing a try. For me this was awesome! But I can tell you for others who are used to hard rockin, quick pace surfing films, some people I know found the film too slow paced for them. For me, I am open to a variety of interpretations of surfing films and I just found this DVD beautiful to watch and enjoyable to see how surfing has contributed to kids and people from other countries. Special features include music videos, a fun and short Ben Stiller outtake, an interesting documentary to support the people in different countries who have no medical facility. A surfer who was surfing in a country who is a doctor walked to the village and was shocked to see how the children and people were dying in their village because they had no access to shots or medical and from surfing donations and donations period, has helped these people. Also, clips that were not in the film but featuring more cool surfing and cool music. One last thing, I was hoping there would be a lot of Tom Curren but there wasn't much but still, if you love surfing and the spirit of surfing and how that passion transcended to other countries, get this Malloy film. It's that damn good!
